LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK surgery has been very successful at helping people see clearly without glasses or contacts! Here are some things you can expect during the surgery:

  • You are awake throughout the entire procedure, which lasts approximately 10 minutes
  • Dr. Ashraf will numb your eyes with eye drops so you most likely won’t feel a thing
  • Generally, both eyes are treated during one procedure
  • Most patients eventually enjoy 20/20 vision or better after they receive treatment

Just before the surgery, Dr. Ashraf numbs the eyes with drops and creates a flap in the cornea using a laser or a microkeratome blade. He then reshapes the corneal tissue with an excimer laser so that it can properly focus light into the eye and onto the retina.

  • 18 years or older
  • Stable vision for at least 1 year
  • Health cornea thick enough for a flap
  • Refractive errors that are considered treatable
  • No eye condition or disease that might affect the process
  • Understands the benefits and risks of the process
