Cataract surgery involves the removal of your cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial, intraocular lens (IOL). We offer a full range of premium IOLs to correct your cataracts, for clear, sharp sight and excellent vision at all distances.
Affecting more than half of the population over age 50, cataracts are characterized by cloudy vision, which can become progressively worse. Fortunately, restoring your clear sight through cataract surgery is efficient, painless and covered by Medicare.
Primarily caused by age, cataracts occur when the proteins in your eye’s lens degrade, clumping up to form a cataract and causing the vision to blur. Over time, the cataract and the cloudy area in the lens may increase in size. Left untreated, full blindness can result. Cataracts will not resolve themselves without help; surgery is necessary to fix the problem.
Our accomplished physician, Dr. Farooq Ashraf, has performed thousands of cataract surgeries. We have a number of premium lens options to provide exceptional clarity and sharpness.
Laser-assisted cataract surgery offers an extra level of precision and efficiency by breaking apart the cloudy lens with an accurate cold-temperature beam. Dr. Ashraf uses the LenSx® femtosecond laser to augment the high-frequency phacoemulsification device and treat astigmatism. This advanced laser technology provides a new level of precision and predictability in cataract care, decreasing the risk of complications and improving outcomes for patients. (Please note: While this type of procedure can be an excellent option for patients, it is not covered by Medicare.)
While standard monofocal lenses will require patients to still wear reading glasses for close-up vision, we offer a number of premium lenses that provide sharp close-up and distance eyesight. In addition, we also have special IOLs that correct for astigmatism. No matter what your needs are, the Atlanta Vision Institute can give you the sharp, clear vision you need and deserve.
